DESCRIPTION:FREE! \nJoin us to plant a new forest in Guelph near Earth Day! We’ll be planting a wide variety of native trees such as oaks\, sugar maples\, and shrubs like serviceberries that are popular with pollinators and are well suited to restoring our natural heritage system. This site will become part of a future pollinator flyway so we are adding a native wildflowers too to provide pollinator resources all season long. \nRain or Shine! All ages! No previous experience required!Parking (including for bikes) and site access at 335 Laird Road \nTrees\, shovels\, mulch\, pails\, and planting instruction provided.Wear boots and gloves for your comfort. Remember: There is no bad weather\, just bad clothing. \nThis first community tree planting event of 2025 is a partnership between the Rotary Club of Guelph\, the City of Guelph\, Trees For Guelph\, and Pollination Guelph. \nStay hydrated while you plant thanks to the City of Guelph’s Water Wagon; bring your refillable water bottle and help reduce plastic waste. Delicious snacks and meals can be purchased at the on-site Fo’ Cheezy food truck. \nWashroom facilities will be available on site. \nHigh school students can log volunteer hours. Please bring your log sheets for us to sign. \n

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate National Forest Week in Guelph by planting native trees and shrubs with the City of Guelph\, CN Ecoconnexions and us\, Trees for Guelph. Register on-site at the welcome table under the tent or RSVP via Facebook @treesforguelph  \nGrange Road Natural Area – Follow the trail from the parking lot off Grange Road\, past the soccer field\, back through the grove of poplar trees into the very back. It is just a short hike! The planting site is located in the northeast part of the natural area. \nThis is an all-ages-no-experience required rain or shine event. Bring your family and friends. Many hands make light work. \nThe plants\, all the water they need\, shovels\, buckets and mulch will be provided. \nBring lots of water in your refillable bottle\, a litterless snack for energy and gardening gloves if you don’t like the feeling of soil under your nails. We recommend sturdy footwear\, a hat and dressing in layers. Remember – there is no such thing as bad weather\, just the wrong clothing. \nTo ensure plants get the best start\, demonstrations run continuously throughout the morning. \nA special invitation goes out to high school students looking to earn volunteer hours. The plan is to connect the three islands of plantings done over the previous 15 years into one large patch. This will support more pollinators and wildlife. \nThe City of Guelph is supplying the plants\, water and mulch. Trees for Guelph is bringing the shovels and buckets. Join us at any time between 9:30 and 12:30. Planting demonstrations run continuously so you can learn the best techniques for transplanting. \nDress for rain or shine in layers so you are comfortable. No such thing as bad weather\, just the wrong clothing. \nBring a full refillable water bottle\, a litterless snack to keep you energized and garden gloves if you don’t like getting soil under your fingernails. \nA special invitation goes out to high school students looking to earn volunteer hours. Please have a hat and sunscreen because our skin isn’t used to the strong spring sunshine. \nHigh school students: bring your log sheet and sign in at the welcome table to record your volunteer hours. \nNo previous experience is required.
